"Programming" is the 'growth industry' if India. The companies themselves rarely get directly involved in these politically-damaging tech sweat shops. The current trend is American entrepreneurs setting them up and contracting as independent consultants. Many of them are located just offshore in the Caribbean, like Barbados, and actually compensate workers pretty well: free apartments, free use of a vehicle, day care, decent salaries (up to $70k). One of the main attractions of these shops is the savings in human resources and benefits to the client companies. Hell, if I wanted to live on a tropical island, I'd consider signing up myself, although I doubt the work is cutting edge. ------------------[ http://www.magpie.com ]-----------=o&>o------- Steve Manes smanes [at] magpie.com N'Yawk, N'Yawk
