I think the solution may be somewhat different. First, we who are computer literate should be in constant contact with our elected officials. We need to be well known around their office for being very nice, and very concerned about legislatoin. Next, when IBM, or any other company begins to hire imported, low wage programmers, etc., we need to make it known around the net that IBM is undermining Americans by hiring from outside the country when there are many here who can do the job. Maybe too it is time for some public protesting in front of the home offices of these companies. The small savings they achieve by hiring foreigners could easily be offset by a large amount of negative press! We need to impress the public with this information, and explain how UNCONCERNED these companies are about showing support for American employes who can do the work they need to have done. But, if we sit on the sidelines and never protest about actions like these, the multinational, unpatriotic companies will always avoid showing any responsibility to American society from which most of these companies originated.
