I assume that you are attempting to create the newsgroup's charter. I have no problem with paragraph 1, except for the final three words. What exactly does "unless it's funny" mean? Will it be ok to talk about "funny" politics in dc.general.moderated? Or do you mean one cannot discuss politics in dc.general.moderated unless dc.politics is "funny" (IAW, having some undiagnosed problem)? You need more clarification here. And if you are trying to say humorous posts about politics is ok, then you are opening to door to any posts about politics, since funny certainly is a subjective thing. >2. What about discussions of local elections? Would it not make sense that posts discussing the mayoral race in DC would be crossposted to dc.general.moderated and dc.politics? >3. Who are the moderators? ><Note: do we want a bot to assist in the moderation of the group, and if >so, who runs it ???> >We need to talk more to take this part of the charter. . . I do not like bots of any kind functioning as moderators. Two human beings should be able to adequately moderate the newsgroup. >4. Upon formation of dc.general.moderated, we will ask for the >dissolution of dc.general at a date "X" days after dc.g.mod is >created. Dc.general will have a daily post notifying users of the change. NO! You cannot simply make dc.general go away just because dc.general.moderated is created. Mike Lastort remove spam-spam-bacon-and-spam to reply
