Good luck on your project. Here is an idea. (I've been doing television production for a number of years.) Team up with a classmate in Public Relations. Go out to the suburbs where new coffee shops are opening up everywhere. In fact, there is a fairly new one in the Kentlands center in Gaithersburg/Germantown. There is also a new Shoppers Food Warehouse that has a huge cafe area. (lighting will be tough, lot of mixed light sources and mercury vapor lamps). Anyway, if you tell the shop owner that you will help him get a story in the local newspaper, you will have much more success. First of all, the local newspapers are always looking to print anything. All you have to do is write a press release, perhaps take a production photo or two, and send it in to the papers in advance of your shoot. Believe me, even for a college film the store will have interested parties come over. Does this make sense? Did I answer your question? The other approach is to Contact Starbucks in Seattle and then talk to their regional manager. You should know that some of the bigger locations will require some sort of insurance even though you are a student. Is that provided by the school? Good Luck Avery
