I've acquired and installed Slackware 2.3 which had Linux 1.2.8 and gcc 2.6.3. Then I downloaded linux-1.2.13.tar.gz from the archive and loaded it in /usr/src/linux-1.2.13 with the symbolic link /usr/src/linux pointing to it. My problem is that it creates images that are too big! In the config, I only loaded normal floppy, normal HD, sys V IPC, 486 option, subnets are local, Net devices dummy, ppp, and ne2000, and char device for QIC-117 with 3 buffers. After 'make clean;make dep;make zImage' it produces a kernel that just shy of 700k. What is up?
