I just recently got socksd up and running for a win95 box running on local ethernet to my Linux box which has a PPP link. The win95 box has a local IP only, and doesn't have access to regular internet. I was noseying around my system, wondering why I had so little space left in /var, and I realised that the logging that socksd does is humongous. I want to be able to tell syslogd() to take the logging information generated by socksd and dump it to /dev/null. I assume this should be possible, without loosing any of the other logging information that gets put in the messages, syslog and debug files. I have read over the manual page on syslog.conf, and to say the least, it is confusing. my /etc/syslog.conf looks like this: *.warn /usr/adm/syslog kern.* /usr/adm/kernel *.=info;*.=notice;*.=none /usr/adm/messages *.=debug;*.=err;*.=notice /usr/adm/debug *.info;mail.none;authpriv.none /var/adm/messages mail.* /var/adm/maillog hmm, I just realised I havethe logging for notice on there twice. but - I don't think that has anythign to do with redirecting socks logging to /dev/null any help would be GREATELY appreciated. -dave -- -- "One only needs two tools in life: WD-40 to make things go, and duct tape to make them stop." cerb@glue.umd.edu http://ginch.dial.umd.edu
