I have been trying to get the ConfigXF86 program to configure my Xfree86 setup. It seems to run Ok but I can't use the [t]une option when it's done because it tells me that the /tmp file does not exist. Also it does not create an XF86Config file , it creates an Xconfig file which the startx script doesn't see. I used the example file (XF86Config.eg)as my config file and got past the error saying " No config file found" but it has other errors about not having the proper settings for video configuration. I copied the Xconfig file created by the ConfigXF86 program to the XF86Config file and ran startx , it seems that the config file is mising lots of important header information because I'm getting lots of errors about improper section and the like. Is this commonn ? The documentation makes it seem relatively straight forward to do this setup. Also I am missing lots of online files that my doc's ( Linux Pro compendium ) say should be in the X11 directory systems. I ran the setup program and installed all of the Xfree86 stuff . This is pretty frustrating doeas anyone have any insight to what I'm doing wrong ? Thanks in advance . Doug Healy
