This specimen was identified as a petrified human calvarium -- a skull
with the eye sockets broken off --
by the late  Wilton M. Krogman, one of the world's leading human
anatomists and author of "The Human Skeleton in Forensic Medicine."

He is shown examining it in the second photo.

Moments after this photo was taken, a medical doctor entered Krogman's
office at the Cooper Clinic in Lancaster, Pa., and Krogman told him to
come over and see what he identified as "the world's oldest human
skull."
<
American Medical Laboratories in Chantilly, Va., did testing on this
specimen and revealed it contained dried blood.

Haversian canals -- the tell-tale indicator of bone --
exist in this specimen.
