Check the Weekend section in Friday's Washington Post. It lists exhibits and dates. --- Ed Overly gaueao@fnma.com

If someone knows the answer to this PLEASE post it! Pretty please? Or a phone number for the proper Smithsonian branch to contact? My only sort of semi-excuse for posting is that I've just moved to the MD area and it is pretty discouraging when you can't even find a newspaper. Thanks! Christine Piatko piatko@cs.umbc.edu

I have found telephone directories very useful for this. Or 411, now that 626.4400 is gone. In the first place, the notion that the exhibit was imminently going away was advanced as a question, not as a statement of truth. I saw the listing in the Weekend section of the Post and it mentioned nothing about the exhibit leaving. They have the usual info about requiring free tickets to see it, but that was all. They list two numbers just to confuse matters more: 202.786.2122 appears right after the mention of tickets. Then, after the hours of operation is the number 202.357.2700.. nuff said. -- bote@access.digex.com (John Boteler) This week's usenet malapropism: its, it's its = posessive pronoun; "My car blew its engine." it's = contraction of 'it is'; "It's cold outside!"

I'm afraid the Post wouldn't have helped you anyway. The weekend section listed the exhibit but not the date. Try giving the museum a call. I'm sure they're in the phone book.

Or at least it used to. I have not check it recently. I hate to say this ,but I think the Star Trek exhibit is long gone. This is all from memory, but it was never meant to be a long term exhibit and I think it ended in the Fall sometime. I saw in the Post a couple of weeks ago that a new exhibit about the future of manned exploration opened at the A+S. I assume that this replaced the Star Trek exhibit. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis Flanigan Jr. | Goddard Space Flight Center Applied Research Corp. | Code 910.1 flanigan@echo.gsfc.nasa.gov | (301) 286-6589 --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I called the Star Trek Exhibit phone number (which is 202-786-2122) and the
recording said the exhibit would end on 1/31/93. The recording also gives some
other information, so if you are interested in going, I suggest you call first.
