(Following from a discussion in demon.ip.support.pc....)
If, in an FTP session, "pager" is set to "on", it allows directory
listings (etc) to be seen a page at a time.
If, however, any lines exceed the line width then the "added" scrolling
causes the top of each page to be lost.
1. Is there a simple way around this?
2. If not, is there a simple fix to the code to stop this?
3. If not, can we find a simple fix to the code which gives a suitable
workaround?
As far as (3) goes, I've thought of a number of options. The simplest, I
think, is within the "pager on" command to allow a value for the number
of lines per page to be displayed (default=24). Then, by setting "pager
on 12" the screen will scroll half a page at a time, and even if every
line wraps the whole screen will be visible.
A second option would be to be able to disable screen wrapping, so that
lines which exceed line width are (optionally) truncated.
However, obviously (2) is preferable (assuming (1) isn't available). It
didn't ought to be too hard to work out how many lines will wrap and by
how much, but then everything is simple when it's not me who has to do it
:-)
Mark.
