I've sorted out connecting, detecting and supplying the usename, password
and protocol, but then I seem to receive nonsense.  Well, obviously not
nonsense, its just that I don't know how to interpret the next sequence. 
Is this documented anywhere that an idiot like myself could find, or will I
have to guess?
