Thanks everyone for replying to my post. I've got nos running under 
magic (single tasking). I've even had it running under vt100 emulation 
(using vt100emu.prg from src.doc.ic.ac.uk).

There are two problems still remaining which make the whole exercise 
pretty pointless:

1. When I kick the newsserver (running under magic) I get the message

Can't lock file \/spool/news/history

This happens even though I am using the same startup.nos file from the 
same directory as when it runs successfully without magic. I deduce 
that magic is changing something. Any ideas?


2. When I run oasis under magic and try to compose an email to someone 
listed in the yellow pages it goes like this:

Post Box (mail window appears)
Post letter (dialogue box appears)
Select (yellow pages appears)
double click on name (options box appears - to add, edit or delete).

I seem to be the only one who has experience this, so I guess I'll 
just have to wait for ICE.

BTW I already use the everest text editor with oasis. It's way faster 
than the one that's included (sorry Dave) and I prefer a slightly 
smaller font - everest allows default font size to be set.
