Yes, on the still test number 08450798667 I can get 128K with my
Ignition pretty reliably. Please note: This is a *TEST* number and it
may be changed or messed around with at Demon's will without warning or
explanation. I only feel safe to mention it because Malcolm Muir has
mentioedn it a couple of times in demon.service.isdn.
I'm pretty sure Demon's view is that people are welcome to use this
number but in the event of problems they will get absolutely no support.

It is the Red ROMP ISDN access number. Not correct. 8667 is and always has been supported for 64K ISDN, it will soon be formally supported for 128k. -- Malcolm S. Muir Demon Internet Sunderland 322 Regents Park Road England London N3 2QQ

If you (anyone) has been reading demon.service.isdn you will know that PC folk are getting 128K pretty regularly (some claim 100%). I'm using a Mac (hence this ng) and I've _never_ gotten 128K. I'm wondering if anyone using a Mac is getting 128K on a regular basis and further, with what equipment. I asked on d.s.i if anyone with a Mac had managed it and got no response so I thought I'd try here. So: Has anyone managed to get 128K isdn with Demon?? What settings did you change to get 128K? I've got a Zoom TA. I change the CCL to 64K ISDN MLPPP and I get the MLP light on the box but the secound channel never picks up. I've used ip net monitor to check speeds and downloaded some test files but I never get more than 8KBs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated All the best, Tom 7600/G3 400 8.6 R.A. 3.1.3 -- "You keep either intentionally or unintentionally trying to confuse the goals we had for investing in the relationship (with Apple) with the goals we had overall for investing in Apple." - Bill Gates

System 8.6, OT 2.0.3, MacSLIP 3.0.4 or Remote Access according to how I
feel that day, BT Ignition.

Not using a Zoom I can't speak with any authority of experience but if
it is like the Ignition you may need to enter the numbers twice. However
you configure it the Ignition will not bring up the second channel
unless the dial command is:
ATD08450798667&08450798667
If the Zoom is the same, or similar then the CCL script may not do this
automatically with the number you enter in Remote Access and you may
have to enter 08450798667&08450798667 or the Zoom equivalent. I don't
need to do this now but it's a long while (years) since I first got this
working and I may have edited my Ignition CCL script so I only need to
have the number entered once in Remote Access.
Sorry I can't be much more help than this - it looks like an evening
with the Docs and a text editor may be needed.

Absolutely amazin'... I entered the number as above in R.A. and connected at 128 first try. Many thanks... Just having tried I have had a very sucessful session at 128k (well, 128k when needed). Using a beige G3 with a ZyXel omni.net external TA on Home Highway and on the 0845 079 8667 number. When just browsing a few pages it stayed connected on one channel only, when downloading files it connected with both and download speeds of 12k, 2nd channel disconnected when finished. Only one try but it did work.

In the Modem control panel .... which seems odd because it's a TA but I can live with that little difference. I have a choice of protocols, 64k, 64k STAC, or 64k BOD .. so I just chose the latter. > Also why aren't we getting double the single channel download speed? I suspect there's some loss to be exected in running two channels to gather the same data, there has to be negotiation and checking so I don't expect it to instantly double everything. But then I've never been that bothered with constantly monitoring the download speeds so I don't give it too much atention unless it's desperatly low. Just the way I've always worked (since 2400 modem days) ....
