I'm having trouble using Premier Connect on my Apple Mac G3 with Global Village external modem. When I try to connect through 0844 099 6662 or 0844 041 6662, the modem dials out and then, a few seconds later, I get the alert: =============================================== Apple Remote Access The modem is not responding properly. Reset the modem, check its connections and check that the correct port and modem type are selected in the Modem control panel. =============================================== I can still access Demon through the normal numbers e.g. 0845 212 0666 What have I done wrong? Regards, Ian.

However, it does use different Network Access Servers (3Comm type) from the SmurfRomps (which use Ascends). The most likely thing is that you are getting voice messge which you're not hearing because it's very quiet. If I dial those numbers from my Telewest line, I hear "Sorry, the number you have dialled is not available". If I plug into a BT line, it negotiates and connects okay, although as I am not signed up to Demon for this, it then asks me for a logon name and password which *would* work. It sounds to me as though you are hitting a voice message of some kind. -- Peter

Sorry, this is stupidly obscure; I hadn't set up my Demon password etc for that number- at *my* end. It was just a quick, dirty try. When I did the setting up, it worked perfectly. You don't have to sign up to anything exta at Demon to get connected on these numbers- only to the g5 number at peak times... as you probably knew anyway... -- Peter
