We have a Exchange server 5.5 picking up mail through an ISDN line. Exchange only downloads new mail when the connection dials up - does anyone know how I can force Exchange to re-queue the pop3 account? TIA, Mark

Thanks - Jon - I did of course mean SMTP, not POP3 - I haven't done anything to the server for a few months ;-) The owner of the system wants the server to check for mail every minute - I just wondered if there was a better way of doing it than getting the server to redial every minute (they have a surftime account so at least they don't have to worry about the bill). Thanks again, Mark "Jon Grieve" <jgrieve@southdown,co,uk> wrote in message news:980241132.6529.0.nnrp-12.d4f0f5e4@news.demon.co.uk... > Mark, > > See my FAQ on Exchange and Demon at: > http://www.southdown.co.uk/users/jgrieve > > Regards, > > > Jon Grieve > Southdown House Software Ltd > http://www.southdown.co.uk > _______________________________________________ > > The U.K's #1 distributor for Pervasive Software > > > (To reply, modify return address; change commas to dots) > > > > > > > "Mark Jackson" <m.jackson16@ntlworld.com> wrote in message > news:rn4a6.2220$4k4.56651@news2-win.server.ntlworld.com... > > We have a Exchange server 5.5 picking up mail through an ISDN line. > Exchange > > only downloads new mail when the connection dials up - does anyone know > how > > I can force Exchange to re-queue the pop3 account? > > > > TIA, > > > > Mark > > > > > > > > > >

Mark, If you tell Exchange that it's not working in Dial-Up Mode, then force the connection to stay open (create an AT job to ping a server or something), then that should do it. I mean, Demon deliver the mail via SMTP, so you don't "collect" mail; Demon will deliver it to you. Jon, I'll give it a try. At least this way I can share the modem as well. Thanks again, Mark "Jon Grieve" <jgrieve@southdown,co,uk> wrote in message news:980270206.19099.0.nnrp-12.d4f0f5e4@news.demon.co.uk... > Mark, > > If you tell Exchange that it's not working in Dial-Up Mode, then force the > connection to stay open (create an AT job to ping a server or something), > then that should do it.
