A copy is stored on your "Disk First Aid" disk which came with your Performa. The backup program is stored on the hard disk, the restore program (and the Disk First Aid program), and a minimal system is stored on the floppy. |> |> I have some disk problems at the moment and I want to backup my System Folder |> and then reformat the disk and restore it. I have the Apple Backup utility but |> as I already mentioned I don't seem to have a copy of Apple Restore. It depends on your problems. It doesn't make sense to backup a corrupted file system. The backup program even might not be able to read the files correctly from your hard disk. Additionally, if you backup corrupted files and restore them later, all you get is corrupted files. Why didn't you make a backup earlier when you had an uncorrupted, virgin system? |> |> Failing this does anyone know of any other application I can use? There are a number of commercial and shareware backup programs. Connect, e.g., to <http://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/packages/info-mac/> Look into the directory "Disk & File" and download, e.g., the program "Soft Backup". BE CAREFUL! If you write new files to a disk with a corrupted file system, anything can go wrong. Another possibility is to reformat the hard disk and install everything from scratch (you said that you only wanted to backup your system folder). You would have to call Apple to send you a full set of system disks (or CD, if you have a CD-ROM drive) and make a clean install. Alex -- / "Dad!
