That's not right; I used my Zip drive happily with both Mac and PC formatted carts, under sys 7.5.2, on a 7500/100, with Zip driver version 5.0.3. Not only that but I was able to use the same drive and PC cart on an ancient LC2 at work, running sys 7.1 (I think it was), when clearing out the content of an old LAN server and transferring it to a PC. I simply added PC Exchange B1-2.0.5 (which came with sys 7.5.2) to the LC2's extensions. That's because the sys 8 version B1-2.2.1 won't run on older Macs. The only problem was that while 2.2.1 will properly handle long file names and transfer them correctly to Win95, 2.0.5 won't; however, it truncates the names quite intelligently. The sight of that creaking LC2, which had been built before Zips were a gleam in Iomega's eye (or even before PC Exchange had been issued), chuntering along copying 6000 files to a PC formatted cart without a single hesitation or error warmed the heart.... Mind you, it did take a while... It was all for my favourite film achivist- the Best in the Known Universe. I was rewarded with a kiss. Indeed, Macs (and Zips) are wonderful things. -- Peter
