I too have a 600 and it clogs by a rediculous amount, this is actually
my 2nd printer, the old one got so clogged up that no amount of cleaning
would fix it and so I returned it under warrantee and Epson subsequently
lost it and sent me a new one.  This printer now clogs up if I don't use
it for a few days, I didn't use it for about 36 hours and in that period
only 4 of the red nozzles continued to work out of something like 30.
However the quality is reasonable once you've cleaned it, my friend just
bought a Stylus Photo 750 and the printouts are absolutely stunning,
especially on the photo paper, on the basis of those printouts I really
couldn't fault it.  He hasn't mentioned any problems with it clogging up
either, he has only had it about a month though.
The Epsons seem to be about the only serious choice, there are a couple
of HP models too but I'm not sure how committed to the Mac HP are.
