No, demon.tech.mac is intended, like all the demon.tech groups, for the
fuckwits who insist on posting non-IP queries in demon.ip.support groups.
It was *much* needed for the Windows crowd, many of whom cannot figure
out which newsgroup to post things in at all. The Archimedes, Acorn
and Mac crowds all seem to manage things better and rarely post non-IP
stuff to the support groups. The d.tech.archimedes group is rarely used
at all because most Acorn users know about comp.sys.acorn.*.
Surprisingly, the Unix groups seem to get a lot of non-IP stuff in
demon.ip.support.unix and a lot of IP stuff in demon.tech.unix. I put
it down to Windows people trying out Linux or FreeBSD - they have
problems but, being Windows users, can't work out which group to post to.

It's exceedingly unlikely Demon will rmgroup it - they've yet to
rmgroup demon.ip.winsock which was superseded by d.ip.support.winsock
many years ago. Anyway, if the d.tech groups serve to keep non-IP
stuff out of the support groups then they're well worth keeping.
