Maybe you are running a different shell than Explorer. I can't remember
where this is changed, but you can try the config.sys file. If there is
a line that looks anything like:

SHELL=c:\somefile.exe

Then try and comment it out:

rem SHELL=c:\somefile.exe

Just an idea....
