Ordered a system's worth of components from them last April (Pentium P60 based multimedia PC). This failed in early March and I traced it either the motherboard or CPU. After spending ages on the phone I finally got a returns number. Two weeks went by without any word from Express. Phoned them (another 20 minutes on the line) to be told it was being dealt with that day and to expect it the next day. Didn't arrive! Phoned again to be told they were waiting for a new motherboard before shipping out to me. Phoned two days later to be told, by someone else, that the CPU was u/s and they were waiting for a new one before shipping. Phoned two days later to be told it had been sent out the previous week with no fault found. I then played hell and was told they'd call back. They never did. Called them the next day to be told that the CPU was u/s and as it was obselete they couldn't help me. All they could do was offer a credit note. I didn't accept that as a P60/66 motherboard is not much use without a P60 CPU. They then said they'd phone me back. They didn't of course. I then rang up and asked to speak to the returns manager who was surprised that I had been strung along all this time. I threatened him with the Trading Standards and managed to "find" a P60 CPU and the board would be returned the next day. It arrived on Tuesday. The CPU is obviously used and has had a fan on it at some time with stuck to it with glue. It looks a right mess. Anyway, I put the system together again this afternoon and guess what? It is exactly the same! I now have to go through all this yet again. I have already spent about 3 hours worth of phone calls and it looks like its about to start again. I would not recommend Choice Peripherals/Express Micros to anyone. Cheers, Phil --- Phil Handley, supporter of Preston North End FC
