Help: MSD thinks my 1.44 floppy is a 320K 5.25in

I'm trying to put a second machine together using a triple-bus board,
AMD DX2-80, CL5429 Video Card, VL I/O card and a few other bits and
pieces, including a 3.5" 1.44M floppy and a 420M HDD.

Now then, the BIOS is set fine and reports it OK. It is the only floppy
installed and the machine boots OK. A "DIR" on the drive works fine, but
if I try and list or run anything I get the old "Sector not found reading
drive A" teaser :-(

If I boot DOS from the floppy then MSD sees it correctly but obviously
this isn't a realistic solution. I've tried different floppy drives,
floppy cables, i/o controller card, different bus slots - all to no
avail.

Can anyone offer any assistance please?
