VMPEG appears to work satisfactorily (on my m/c - 486sx33 with 8Mb) - look
for it in Lycos. From the readme that came with it:
2. Requirements
===============
- '386 (or better) processor
- 4 MB RAM (8 MB recommended)
- VGA or Super VGA
- Windows 3.1 or Windows 95
