How to decode graphics attachment? Good mailreader?

I have been sent a scanned image as email and I have no idea how to
convert it back to a graphics image.  Can anyone offer me some advice?
I am using FIMAIL and also newswin.

Can anyone offer recommendations for a good fully functional
mailreader with address book etc.
