I've had something like this with the IBM 750 and a Maxtor Harddrive... It seemed that the PCMCIA interface in the IBM is not really perfect... As you state: The software recognizes everything, but working... NO! I simply sent the PCMCIA card back... Try to get a PCMCIA Ethernet card that IBM suggests... The Thinkpad is beautiful, but IBM still is the only one not compatible!!!
