I have put Phoenix ROM's in a compaq before only to get a gate A20 handler
error and then this system hangs (I suspect AMI ROM's will do the same thing).
You might be able to get over this problem by changing the gate A20 handler
as it is in a socket on the compaq boards, I personally would go for another
hard disk (maybe second hand). ROM changes on branded makes can cause a lot
of trouble.
