Is this a hardware or software problem?

Weird problem!

I'm trying to print a report for my annual accounts. All the
reports except one are working fine. One hangs the machine every
time.

I say it's weird because this still happens when I restore an old
set of data which has previously printed before, and when I
reinstall the software from the original disk, and when I combine
both of the above!

I've scandisked etc between each attempt (often finding the report
that it's trying to generate to be corrupt, and deleting it). I've
completely deleted the relevant directories, and can't find any
relevant temporary or hidden files.

I've made a fresh installation and typed in one item of data, and it
still doesn't work!

I wondered if there were odd changes in my config.sys etc to cause
an unsatisfactory "working environment" for it, but I can't see any.

I tried giving it a different "working environment" by running it in
a DOS session in OS/2 Warp, which I have done before, and it hung
the machine so that only a cold reset would work.

I've reset the PC clock to a couple of months back, so as still to
be in the financial year in question.

Fortunately this particular report is not essential, but it makes me
wonder about the safety of my data.

I'll try installing on a different machine at work tomorrow

Software is Sage Moneywise version 1.2

PC a 486DX33, DOS 6.2, no other problems apparent.

I've virus scanned with f-prot 2.2
