(I almost posted this to the 'short vs. tall' thread, but realized it had veered back to the larger question) bigus@ix.netcom.com (Bigus) wrote: <snipping lots of comments to Richard's comments> >One final note, to Steve, I don't have any secrets. I see myself as being very much in the >middle. >John John, I certainly agree with Richard in seeing your posts as most illuminating and well-considered... but I know exactly what you mean about writing for your own personal persuasion... It seems I have all these (possibly profound) thoughts in my head, but it is the expressing of them that makes them 'real' (especially writing). I don't exactly find your posts 'alluring' as much as 'resonating' - it's almost like I'm thinking them myself, but you saved me the time of writing! (And I'm not a very fast typist, thanks much!) But I do have something to add.. Your mention of "When the student is ready, the teacher will come" reminds me of a book I have read recently 'The Way of the Peaceful Warrior' (I forget the author, I borrowed the book from a friend), as well as my all-time favorite, 'Illusions' by Richard Bach... These books are about teachers that come into your (and my) life, to remind us that everything that happens in our lives are due to the choices that we have made... it is scary and comforting at the same time, because of the power and responsibility it gives me (and requires of me)... This also resonates with another post in this thread: Substitute the word "won't" anytime you use the word "can't", and see how this changes your prespective. Also, from yet another post: This 'affirmation' works only when you are ready for it... but it does work. From a fellow wall-climber, - John R. P.S.: For the 'Nice Guy' or 'Good Guy' who wants to know why he (or she) should 'keep the faith', I also recommend 'The Road Less Traveled', by M. Scott Peck.
