Well, it seems ther we were the FIRST to figure it out at all, so it is 
kind of hard to be busting on us for not finding it out fast enough!

When you ask the phone company "is your stuff working OK" and they 
come back and say "yep - it works fine, no problem here" then you 
have a VERY hard time debugging their stuff, without their cooperation.
BA was basically misleading us the whole time, until we managed to 
get them to go check into the possibility that they were "wrong".

Have you ever tried to convince the telephone company that they are
"wrong" when they insit that they are right?  If you have not, then 
don't sit there throwing stones.  Walk in THESE shoes and you will 
know frustration.

And guess what?  It wasn't a modem config problem.  It was BA. We
*suspected* it long ago, but until we could prove it, it would be reckless
to announce it in public.
