I'm having problems getting a SLIP connection to work properly between two
PC's. (I thought it would be good to get started with NOS tcp/ip off the air
first.) I've gotten to the point where they can ping each other fine, and the
machines can finger and ftp to themselves. However, if I try to FTP from one
machine to the other, I get a message that a connection was established, but I
never get the usual header / login prompt. (Finger hangs in a similar way.) I
set tcp trace to on and got:

On Machine wv9z
---------------
Resolving n9jak... Trying 44.92.1.32:21...
TCB 8c7a0010 Closed -> SYN sent
FTP session 1 connected to n9jak
TCB 8c7a0010 SYN sent -> Established
[hangs here]

On Machine n9jak
----------------
TCB 6ff40010 Listen -> SYN received
[that's it! NO 'TCB 6ff40010 SYN Received -> Established' as I'd expect!]

Using ps on Machine n9jak I can see that an 'ftpserv' process has started
and is in state IW. Both machines are using the following 'pared down'
autoexec.net file (with the exception of different IP addresses and callsigns
of course) :

watch off
domain suffix ampr.org
hostname wv9z.ampr.org.
ip address [44.92.1.31]
attach asy 0x2f8 3 slip sl0 1024 256 2400 wv9z
ifconfig sl0 ipaddress [44.92.1.31]
route add default sl0
ip ttl 30
tcp mss 216
tcp irtt 5000
tcp window 432
start ftp
start finger
# THE END

I tried using nos_0308, nos_0423, g1emm V1.6, all with the same result.
I tried more full blown autoexec.net files (e.g. with other services running)
I tried two different pairs of PC's with the same result.
I tried different settings of mss, mtu, baud, timers, etc. with the same result.
I tried pulling my hair out with the same result -- Help! I'm going bald!

I must be doing something wrong eh!? I really would like to get this working
on wire before I generate RF with it. Any suggestions will be greatly
appreciated - zork, -- Dan
