 Steve,

Happy to hear we will get a new packeteer in Grenoble!!
Situation here: 100 Ham's, lots of them active on HF, some (fewer) active
ov VHF and UHF. Mountains all over the place, we live in the bottom of the
valley, a lot gets to the mountain but not over it.

Two repeaters (voice): 145.600/145.600 (R0) local city repeater
430.325/431.925 (RU13) on the top of Chamrousse (1800m) to reach Lyon and
other further away places.
Close to Grenoble we have the RU17 repeater 433.025/431.425 to cover the valley
towards Lyon, less connectivity to Grenoble though.

Packet: 15 Ham's doing packet, 5 of them TCP/IP (G1EMM / KA9Q) the others
standard pack-comm TNC's.
One local server FF1RGA-1 tcp/ip box 44.151.38.5 that serves the local community
without national connectivity, an experimental Net-Rom on the top of
Chamrousse to link to Lyon and Clermont-Ferrand (a ROSE node) and a fixed one
in Voiron (35km NW) on the national frequency: Link to national oriented
BBS's.
Frequency used 144.675 for National Net, 144.625 for local/regional Net.
Links towards National net are planned.
Major BBS's in this area FE6BIG-1 and FF5KDC-1, links are at 1200bd and
overloaded...

Clubs: REF (National association...) has it's local antenna here REF/38
       RCNEG Ga/Electricity board ham association
       ADRASSEC Cathastrophe service Club
ARRAD Relay operator Club (Builds and maintains Repeaters and AX.25)
and some other Company affiliated but less or more active ones.

Club eavenings are evrey second Friday of the month 20:30 till after midnight,
Radio info is every Thursday at 19:30 on the R0 Repeater, Ham net is every
sunday morning on 144.380 LSB.

Think this is a fair summary, give us a call when you're here, I'll try to
get you to know the folks here!

Subject: Finger bug in G1EMM NOS ?

Hi All,

This might be an oldie.....

Has anyone noted that in G1EMM v1.6 (901130), the finger server has a
bug if NOS is started with the -d option ?

Example :-
My setup has NOS in c:\tcpip
		in c:\tcpip\finger is a file called g6dhu

		example> nos -dc:\tcpip

		net> finger @g6dhu

			correctly reports 'known users: g6dhu'
(more than one user is OK too)

		net> finger g6dhu@g6dhu

			reports 'unknown user g6dhu' (ugh!)

I also have the same problem reported by Kurt Freiburger when shelling out
to DOS (COMMAND.COM No Memory) followed by a lock up.

OS is DRDOS 5.0 on a '286.

Subject: RE: Turbo C++ v1.0 and NOS!

I went around on the same thing with both Turbo C++ v1.0 and Borland C++ v2.0,
which is the upgrade. I posted an extensive message about this to tcp-group
a couple of months ago. I will make up a summary of replies to that, and send
you a personal copy. I am carboning the tcp-group with this message in case
anyone else wants the same; I will just post it to the group if there are too
many requests to answer personally.
