Dear Sir or Madam,

I desperately need your help about possible financial aid for my son
Vladislav Ivanov who has been accepted by Electrical/Computer Engineering
Departments at Duke University, Lafayette College and NC State at
Raleigh. It is such a rare chance for an young man from a small isolated
postcommunist country to have an opportunity for advanced study in this
area, and this is the chance of the lifetime for him.

Foreign undergraduate students are not eligible for financial aid
programs. There are no scholarships or grants for Bulgarian or Eastern
European freshmen that I know of. My son does have some sponsorship from a
generous person but he needs $8,000 more for NC State University and much
more for Duke.

His abilities would benefit any business in the US if only he could stay
here and make the most of them. I would appreciate any information about,
and any amount of sponsorship or scholarship you might know.

Thank you for your attention. In a case you could help me my telephone is
(919) 660-4303 (W), 383-4641 (H) and E-mail is: di1@acpub.duke.edu
