The worst traffic on Duraleigh/Blue Ridge is the "choke point" at the church
near Rex. Everyone "cheats" on the traffic backup by flying down the right
lane to the fork in the road, then attempt to power-merge into the left-
bound traffic. This causes most of the backup because of the resulting
stop-and-go traffic. Simply widening the road at that point so that both lanes
can go left would solve the vast majority of the problems along that road.
(Judicious stoplight timing wouldn't hurt either). About half of the traffic
seems to continue down Duraleigh to Millbrook, and the other half goes right
onto Edwards Mill. The road is already wide enough in front of the HMO at
that intersection. I note that the church is currently attempting to sell
its property and move. Seems like a good time for the state to spend some
of that highway trust fund...
