Unix Research Support Officer

Department of Physics and Astronomy

You will work closely with the Computing Manager and other members of
the team to manage the Department's backbone Unix services, and support
and develop Unix services to local research groups.

You will require Unix skills, preferably administrative, in one or more
of the following Unix environments: Solaris, Digital/Compaq Unix, or
Linux. Knowledge of Unix/Windows integration and Windows NT admin
skills would also be advantageous, but not a requirement and training
will be provided where necessary. You will also be expected to possess
a resourceful and proactive attitude to their work, and be readily
approachable and flexible, as this post requires collaboration at many
different levels within and outside the Support Team and Department.

Fixed term contract for 2 years in the first instance, with the
expectation of extension for further years subject to satisfactory
performance.

Salary range: 16,775 - 25,213 p.a.
