I don't speak for XeniTec Consulting. That part of my comment was not meant
to be particularly noteworthy.

nslookup reports UUNET Canada and UUNET as 20- and 30-preference mail
exchangers... but I don't know why. For your information, traceroutes via
UUNET are painfully slow:
/u/geoffw % uname
xenitec
/u/geoffw % traceroute hookup.net
traceroute to hookup.net (198.133.162.1), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 pipe (192.75.213.254) 60 ms 10 ms 10 ms
2 p400t.wat.hookup.net (198.133.162.8) 250 ms 520 ms 30 ms
3 nic.wat.hookup.net (198.133.162.1) 30 ms 30 ms 30 ms
/u/geoffw % traceroute -w 300 uunet.ca
traceroute to uunet.ca (142.77.1.254), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 142.77.5.1 (142.77.5.1) 2220 ms 63450 ms 41700 ms
2 kitchener-ethernet0.backbone1.kitchener.uunet.ca (142.77.7.4) 1530 ms
1540 ms 1960 ms
3 kitchener-serial1.backbone2.toronto.uunet.ca (192.197.160.57) 65720 ms
64710 ms 15080 ms
4 main-e21.wf.toronto.uunet.ca (142.77.15.4) 12700 ms 64220 ms 1850 ms
5 uunet.ca (142.77.1.254) 55170 ms 4270 ms 62160 ms
/u/geoffw %
Can you believe some of those times?!?
It would appear that, despite xenitec's use of UUNET mail exchangers, the
preferred outbound IP route is via Hookup.

I remember frequent pre-annoucements of planned down time and post-
annoucements of unplanned down time. I haven't noticed either recently... nor
have I had trouble getting into or out of xenitec.
