Two of the main and on-going problems at the moment, is the shortage
of Nurses and IT workers.

I remember in the early 1980's talking to many trainee Nurses, who
had recently qualified and there was no places for them. An excess of
Nurses, more Nurses than jobs! One such incident I remember vividly,
was talking to some quite distressed Nurses, who after 3 years
training, were to be sacked. They said that it had been a waste of
time and what was the point, they would end up working in a factory.
After that time the Conservative closed down many of the training
facilities, which is a direct result of today's problems (and Labour
have done no better since). What a state to get into. So we have to
import Nurses from overseas. A terrible indictment of failure of
Goverment

How can India, a relatively poor Nationm fund, an excess of IT
experts? Once again the legacy of the Conservatives and followed by
Labour ineffectiveness. So we have to import IT people from overseas

The fundamentals of problem solving is to eradicate the cause of the
problem, not just treat the symptoms. OK, in the short term yes, but
I am waiting to hear from the Goverment, what they intend to do long
term. Are we to continue in this manner forever?

This all stems from successive Governments failure to fund Education.
Other third world countries realise ecucation and training is
paramount, apparently not here in the UK and you can see the results.
It leaves me speechless.

Get courses going, give the students some cash, get people off the
dole and into college. What, pray tell me is the point of giving work
to outsiders without solving the problem! If you don't it will not go
away.

By the Governments own figures, 2.8 million people over the age of 50
have been forced from the workplace in the last 10 years. Many are
ex-managers, many are highly qulified and could be retrained. Utilise
the talents we have in this country, get cash into education.
Employing foreigners is not in itself not wrong, but let us address
the causes, in a timely manner.

Wake up Mr Governmet

till the ground and make it furtile, then reap the harvest. Don't buy
from producers overseas, because next year you have to do the same.
