This is as Posix.2 specifies.

> B)	echo 'pwd'

This is the result of the csh-style history mechanism, which doesn't
obey the sh quoting semantics.

I have diffs to lib/readline/history.c that inhibit history expansion
within single quotes.  They are emphatically unofficial.  Send mail if
you want them.
