I recently switched to Emacs 18.58 (from 18.55) and VM 5.32 (from 5.31).
Now I often get wrong buffer positions with vm. I don't know whether this
is vm's fault or emacs'. The symptoms are:
1. Sometimes (but not very often, when I issue the vm command the first
time (i.e. when my INBOX is not yet loaded) I get the summary buffer
displayed but thye cursor is not on the first new message, but at some
random other message. If I remember correctly, only the summary buffer is
displayed then.
2. When I issue the vm command after my INBOX is loaded but new mail is
present in my Unix mailbox, and I issue the 'g' command in vm, very often
the new message is not displayed at its top but a couple of lines down.
This looks to me like a bug in emacs buffer management (I remember having
found some problems with emacs buffer pointers something like a year ago)
but on the other hand I only get this kind of problems with vm. I found a
bug in pop-to-buffer a few weeks ago, but this function is not used in vm5.
Is there a list of known bugs in Emacs 18.58??
This is the list of my vm variables:
