GCC (installed on a VAX 3600, running VMS 5.1) detects 3 errors when compiling compress.c (from compress.tar on prep.ai.mit.edu). The VAX C compiler has no problem with this. Any ideas. Is GNU C supposed to be completely compatible with other VAX languages? I have an example of a case where a c program, compiled by GNU, and called by a fortran program, dies with an access violation. The same c code, compiled by VAXC (version 3.0), linked with the fortran caller, runs fine. Do you want to see the source codes? -ric steinberger ric@rml2.sri.com -------
