Is there anyone who has sucessfully installed gcc2.2.2 with debuging information
on an HP 9000/340 or 9000/400? I installed gas and gnu ld, but the make bombs
when trying to compile libgcc2.c with the following messages :

        mv tmplibgcc1.a libgcc1.a
        /usr/shareware/bin/hpxt libgcc1.a libgcc1.conv
        if [ -f libgcc2.ready ] ; then \
                true; \
        else \
                touch libgcc2.ready; \
        fi
        rm -f tmplibgcc2.a

I think that gcc is trying to use the HP assembler to assemble this file
instead of gas (which can sucessfully assemble the above file). Previously
I was able to compile gcc2.2.2 without debugger support, but we need to
be able to have it now. I ran config with --with-gnu-as and --with-gnu-ld
which should configure gcc to add the gdb debugging info in its files.

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
