gcc 2.2.2 and cp-decl.c

While compiling gcc 2.2.2 I get the following error on cp-decl.c:

>stage2/gcc -Bstage2/ -c -g -O -I. -I. -I./config cp-decl.c

cp-decl.c: In function `hack_incomplete_structures':
cp-decl.c:10584: warning: comparison is always 1 due to limited range
of data type

The line in question follows:

10583:     --current_binding_level->n_incomplete;
10584:     assert (current_binding_level->n_incomplete >= 0);
10585: }

Anybody have any ideas on whether or not I can ignore the warning?

Probably because n_incomplete field is an unsigned type. If so,
remove the assert. Its dead weight.

This brings up a bigger subject. Quality of GNU releases. I've been
experimenting recently with the -Wall flag on GNU compiler builds. Its
interesting to note that many warnings are produced.

What possible run time bugs are they flagging ?
