First things first:

	There apears to be a problem compiling the gif device driver. The PPM driver works so thats no big deal. Just curious about any and all patches.

	For the ibm AIX box I've fixed it so it compiles, this involves
modification to iinit.c and opdef.h.

	These are:

addition to iinit.c (start) : #define __IINIT

modification to opdef.h:

/*
 * There are actually two kinds of operators: the real ones (t_operator),
 * and ones defined by procedures (t_oparray).  The catalog for the former
 * is op_def_table, and their index is in the range [1..op_def_count).
 */
extern op_def_ptr *op_def_table

Becomes:

/*
 * There are actually two kinds of operators: the real ones (t_operator),
 * and ones defined by procedures (t_oparray).  The catalog for the former
 * is op_def_table, and their index is in the range [1..op_def_count).
 */
#ifndef __IINIT
extern op_def_ptr *op_def_table;
#endif

The code then compiles smoothly. As long as make.doc instructions are followed.

I've got GS 2.4.1 to compile on the following architectures:

	sun4		Sun Sparc 
	sg3		Sillicon Graphics
	dec3		Dec workstation
	r2400		Mips SYSV Release 3
	pow		IBM AIX

A few other drivers seemed to have problems - this may have just been my compiler(s).


I realise I'm probably trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs..
