If you get an "/undefined in PaintType" error message from Ghostscript, especially if you are working with files produced by Word Perfect, there is a two-line workaround. In Ghostscript 2.5.2, change line 677 of gs_init.ps from 7 dict dup begin to 8 dict dup begin /PaintType 0 def The problem is that some applications assume that the default font is a Type 1 font. Nothing in the Adobe documentation specifies this, and it happens not to be true currently in Ghostscript. L.
