In <9204070555.AA27697@raisin-nut> <TOBY.92Apr6182343@r3h.cs.man.ac.uk>, Toby Howard writes: > The following 'random fonts' program (from The PostScript language > journal 2/1) makes GhostScript 2.4 (3/25/92) blow up with: > > Initializing... done. > Error: /undefinedresult in --mod-- > Operand stack: > [] 1416878226 0 The problem is that the program assumes (contrary to the warning on p. 421 of the Second Edition of the PostScript Language Reference Manual) that all available fonts appear as entries in FontDirectory. This is the case for most printers, but it is not part of the PostScript language definition. Ghostscript, in particular, loads all fonts from disk dynamically; they don't appear in FontDirectory until they've been loaded. You can work around this problem by invoking loadallfonts before running the program. L.
