I have recently compiled and installed Ghostscript 2.4.1 and am very pleased with it. I do, however, have one question (with 2 parts). part 1: I noticed in the comments in the b&w epson printer driver, that the ability of many/most of the epson 9-pin printers to do 216 dpi vertically by using fractional vertical feeds was not implemented. I was wondering if there was an updated gdevepsn.c that could do this. I am very pleased with the output on a laserjet, but find the 240x72 resolution of my epson printer to be less than ideal. Even the 6 passes per line required to get 240x216 from my epson is faster than the 'floppy net' connection I have to a laserjet (i.e. write file to floppy and carry it to another machine to use the laserjet. Now it is a walk across the hall, but when I return to school it will be 1/2 mile uphill and cost me $0.15/page.) part 2: If such a driver does not exist, I may try to write one myself. I took a look at the existing driver, and noticed that there is more to it than I had thought. If I must write the driver myself, is there a guide I could get to writing one, or must I try 'vi gdev*.c' as my tutorial? -------- Paul H. Hargrove, speaking for myself.
