another groff1.05 and gcc2.2.2 problem

I'm trying to compile groff1.05 with the new gcc2.2.2 and I'm having
problems. The patch given for lib/errarg.c worked, but I'm unable to
compile 'tbl'. Here is the error message:

Making all in tbl
gcc -c -I../lib -xc++   -O    -DHAVE_VFORK -DHAVE_SYS_SIGLIST  -DHAVE_RENAME
 -DHAVE_PID_T -DWAIT_COREDUMP_0200    main.c
gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1plus got fatal signal 11
make[1]: *** [main.o] Error 1
make: *** [tbl] Error 1

Signal 11 is a segmentation violation!
My system is DECstation 5500/200 running ultrix4.2. I recently installed
gcc2.2.2 and groff is the only thing I use that uses g++ so it is conceivable
that there is something wrong with my gcc2.2.2 installation. Any help
would be appreciated....
