The following assembler line causes gas-1.92.3 to crash: movc a0,#0x806 | hardcode the 68040 'User Root Pointer' register The assembler is built as a 68K cross-assembler, and runs on a Sun-4, running SunOS 4.1.1. Neither gas-1.35 and gas-1.38 can assemble this instruction. Both produce the message: FATAL:Internal error: Unknown mode #j Admittedly, the 'movec' instruction isn't required to be able to accept an arbitrary numeric argument in place of a named control register, but the feature can come in handy when trying to use gas with processors which gas doesn't yet fully support. ---------- Steve Ulrich Tektronix Beaverton, OR steveu@tasha.tv.tek.com
