GNU tar 1.11, more problems

Regarding my previous posting, it seems so far that *all* extractions
show this problem of:

tar: couldn't change access and modification times of [lines of garbage]
tar: cannot change mode of file [lines of garbage]

with each [lines of garbage] sometimes being many pages long. This
renders GNU tar unusable for practical purpose on this system. The
problems I reported with "tar c..." this morning and these problems
with "tar x" are fairly solid, this shakes a little the confidence I
would like to have for my main archiver. So, I am reverting to tar
1.10 for now, waiting for correcting patches.

Looking at the ChangeLog, I did not find specific trace of correction
for the problem of -dM combination not working on floppies. I
reported this problem at each release since GNU tar 1.08. Does
someone know if the problem has been corrected in GNU tar 1.11?
