I always dry clean them (no point in ruining expensive dress pants to save a few dollars). The problem with wool is that it shrink if it is not washed properly. If you really want to wash them yourself, wash them in cold water and use mild detergent (like Woollite). I don't know how can you get a crisp crease without those professional steamer boards. >If you take them to dry clean, how long do you take them once? May be twice in the summer and once in the winter. Assuming you are not spilling anything on it and are not wearing it everyday (I try to wear the same pair of pants at most once a week, don't wear suits though). BTW, if you wear suits, dry clean the jacket and the pants together, otherwise, the two won't match after a while (the pants look worn out earlier). >Hope netters who have been wearing suits for several years help. Thks! >Also, which make do you find good? I find Boss, Hugo and Durban quite good Boss is not bad (actually, my favorite label). They offer good to high quality at a reasonable price (buy them on sales). Hugo is too funky for me (it is aimed at the younger, more causal market, I don't think they look professional enough in the office) and the look won't last for more than a couple of seasons. Never bought Durban though, but I thought they are kind of overpriced. >and there's one Pan???? found in 2/F, LaneCrawford, Ocean Terminal. But >they are all very expensive(HK$5,000 for one set). If you have to wear suits to work and stick to the more classic cuts and style (Boss style is a good guide line for that, cycle of men's fashion goes for about every 5 years), a good quality suit can last you 3 to 5 years (assuming you are not wearing it everyday, a well dressed man should not wear the same suit twice in a week according to magazines like GQ) and you will look spectacular in a well made suit. Wait for sales and you can get high quality suits at a reasonable price (like around $3000). It is way better than buying a couple of cheap suits at regular price. >Daniel Hecther is making rubbish this winter, btw. Never like their stuff anyway and the quality doesn't seem to be that high (as compare to other labels). >-- >Rgds, >Ah Fung (Work inhumanely hard......) >More: pls "finger mfchan@cs.cuhk.hk | more" or "http://www.cs.cuhk.hk/~mfchan" > --- Dept. of Committing Suicide, The Cruelty University of Hong Kong --- > 䤤j qlpǨt Peter K.H.
