I couldn't agree with you more about the cars.  For a 
couple of decades I've thought that the American car 
manufacturers Just Don't Get It, and they plainly 
don't.  I saw your statement "difference in perception 
of what a sports car should be", and I almost jumped. 
For years I've lamented that American engineers just 
don't have the same sense of what a car should be that 
good designers, be they European or Japanese, seem to have.

Across the board, Americans seem to have lowbrow 
tastes, be it in food, cars, TV, etc.
